Halloween is a fun and joyous holiday for people of all ages and people of all cultures. Adults still enjoy in the fun for Halloween, so it is, therefore, fun for all. Children stroll the sidewalks in search for bundles of candy while adults throw extravagant parties at their homes. Halloween parties are fun because you get to dress up in whatever you decide in efforts to make people laugh, create fear, and shocked, or amazed – during Halloween, almost anything goes.
Halloween attire can be cheap at some stores, or quite expensive in others. It really depends on how life-like the buyer wants the getup to be and if you are shopping in a specialty store or not. Department stores carry Halloween costumes for cheap but the quality demands a higher price. In some stores, high-end Halloween costumes are very costly.
Purchasing an expensive Halloween costume is not required to join in the party, you can build one using your own creativity. Making your own costume is fun and cheap – sometimes it costs nothing! Most, if not all stuff needed, one can find in the home. Some of the greatest homemade costume ideas are:
* Hippie – To make a good hippie costume, one has to riffle into the old clothing piles, parents’ closets, or a hand me down shop. Wherever you choose to gather the material, make sure they are vintage sixties. Dress it up by throwing on some beads, green shades, a headband, and beat up hiking sandals.
* Old Man or Woman – For the guy, one needs to gather some solid brown pants, cuffed at the bottom, a stick, and white hair. For the lady, an old long skirt that drops below the knees, stockings that are rolled a little bit at the top, oxfords, and a gigantic makeup bag – white hair will also be needed. And, if you can locate a walker with wheels on it that you can borrow from someone, it will be even better.
* Mummy – Wrap yourself in gauze. Although you can use toilet paper, gauze is much better. You can seal the gauze up with honey or paste of some kind. Also, paint your face white and include some realistic age and scared lines on the face. You can also add green paint over the body to signify mold.
* Cereal Killer – Tape an empty cereal box on the chest. Get a knife handle (DON’T USE A KNIFE WITH THE BLADE STILL ATTACHED) and attach the handle perpendicularly to the box facing out from your body to make it look like the knife is stabbed into the box. Drip red paint or candle-wax from the bottom edge of the knife and down the box to signify blood.
* Cigarette – Wear all white (the paper) and slide your feet into light brown shoes (the filter). Then, paint your hair red (cherry); you can further include a powder and activate it to make it look like smoke.
There are tons of costumes a person can produce by just gathering a few items from the cupboard. You don’t always be required to buy costumes; you can put one together that is as great, and if not, or even greater, by being creative in yielding your own design – you might be surprised at just how creative you are!
